The northwestern Ontario economy will be getting a boost this year with the opening and expansion of several mines.
A mining expert in Thunder Bay, John Mason, points to the New Gold operation near Fort Frances, along with the expansion of the Lac Des Ille mine north of Thunder Bay and Goldcorp’s Musselwhite mine.
Mason says there are also some new technological advances involved that will bring a new dimension to the industry.
