The Provincial Government says the investments they are making in the mining sector are paying off.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says Ontario is becoming the leading jurisdiction in terms of exploration spending and mineral production.
He says the mining industry creates over 75,000 direct and indirect jobs in Ontario.
He adds the value of metal production in 2003 was 5.7 billion dollars, and in 2011 it was 10.7 billion dollars.
In 2003, exploration expenditures in Ontario were 193-million dollars and in 2011 the number surpassed 1-billion dollars.
Gravelle spoke in Queens Park today.
