A dormant mining project is being brought back to life north of Kenora.
Avalon Rare Metals is planning to process some ore from the Separation Rapids deposit.
Company President Don Bubar says demand for the ore is increasing.
Bubar says they are investing $750,000 in a new pilot plant to crush the ore, which will then be sent to potential customers for sampling.
He notes lithium from the ore has a number of industrial uses including rechargeable batteries and Corning glassware.
Bubar says demand for the chemical is huge right now.
Avalon initially began working the claim about 18-years ago.
