New moose population numbers in northern Ontario are “not good”.
That’s according to Natural Resources Minister Bill Mauro.
He says MNR staff are now working to find out the reasons behind the declining moose population.
Mauro says the MNR has completed an initial phase of consultations and says they will beginning a second phase of talks looking at reasons behind the decline.
Mauro is also defending his ministry’s decision to reduce the number of moose tags available to residents and campowners.
