Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford is brushing aside comments made last week by NDP member John Rafferty on the economic benefits of the Keystone XL Pipeline project.
The Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP said the project won’t bring promised jobs to Canada or the United States.
Rickford says it’s not worth his time to concern himself with those comments as the NDP doesn’t support any pipeline project.
He adds Rafferty is known to say one thing in northwestern Ontario and doing the complete opposite in Ottawa.
Rickford says the government sees the project as an important one for the safe and reliable shipment of oil as well as the economy of both Canada and the U.S.
