More bad news for Northwestern Ontario and the forest industry.
Abitibi-Consolidated has completed an in-depth review of the newsprint
mill in Kenora and has decided to close 1 of 2 remaining paper machines.
The number 9 machine will be permanently closed as of October and the
other machine will remain idle indefinitely.
Minister of Natural Resources David Ramsay could not be reached for
comment however Spokesperson Ginette Albert says the government offers its
regrets.

The closure will result in an estimated 150 to 200 job losses.
