The Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association says this Summer’s
tourism season is a little better than previous years.
Executive Director Doug Reynolds says the warmer weather has helped
attract tourists, but he notes there are still problems facing the industry.
High gas prices, waiting times at the border and the U.S. dollar are
all being blamed for declining interest at medium market tourist resorts.
Reynolds says campgrounds and RV sites are doing well but drive-to
resorts with housekeeping services are experiencing some problems.
