Mixed Bag When It Comes To Staffing Levels At DRHC

It’s been a busy year for the Human Resources department at the hospital and it doesn’t look like things will slow down anytime soon.
The hospital has hired 27-additional staff this year and has continued to target students coming from the RN Bachelor of Science Nursing program and Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
This has vaulted the facility near the top of the list in the largest employer category in Dryden.
However, the hospital is also looking at a number of retirements in the near future.
Spokesperson Siobain Moore says they aren’t necessarily looking at a shortage of workers, but notes when staff do retire, they do lose knowledge.
Moore says the hospital forecasts employee turnover annually and a Human Resources plan is in place.
