While four new four fires have been confirmed in the Northwest region, there’s some good news to report.
Currently there are no fires posing a threat to people or property.
The new fires are small in size and are being managed.
The warm weather forecasted for the long weekend will likely reduce the number of lightning caused fires.
However, the fire hazard is high to extreme across the Northwest and Ministry of Natural Resources Information Officer Heather Pridham is asking folks to be careful with any outdoor fire.
Pridham says they are anticipating a busy weekend but stresses they are prepared.
She adds most of the new fires have been caused by lightning, but notes that they are also seeing in increase in the number of human-caused fires.
The MNR has responded to 22 new fires over the past three days.
