MNR Fire Fighter Bitten by Bear

The Ministry of Natural Resources says one of its fire fighters didn’t sustain any major injuries after being bitten by a bear.

The incident happened in the Sioux Lookout District, where
a crew was camped out while battling a wildfire.

Yolanta Kowalski is a spokesperson for the M.N.R.’s Bear Wise program and says fire fighters are actually trained to deal with such situations.

N004 Q: …passing through. (20 secs.)

Kowalski says the fire fighter was bitten while he was inside in a tent.

He was taken to the Sioux Lookout Health Center for treatment. The skin was not broken but there was some bruising.
