The Ministry of Natural Resources remains on the alert for any new forest fires.
Spokesperson Deb MacLean says the real concern is recent dry lightning storms and they expect to see a number of new fire starts from those.
Most of the fires are burning in the Red Lake and Nipigon Districts.
Although most of them aren’t showing much activity, MacLean says they have their eye on them.
One fire on the radar is a 200-hectare blaze 10-kilometres southwest of Deer Lake.
MacLean says there’s no threat to the community right now.
Four new forest fires sparked Wednesday.
Two were in the Nipigon District, while Sioux Lookout and Red Lake both recorded one apiece.
Three of the fires were lightning caused, while one northeast of Ear Falls was sparked by an abandoned campfire.
