The Ministry of Natural Resources says a number of factors could result in more forest fires in future years.
Fire Response Specialist Rick Payne says the MNR is updating their fire management strategies to meet future demands.
Payne say they are now looking at hazardous fuels around communities and how they will deal with those to protect communities.
He says government cutbacks and fixed budgets may also hinder future operations but stresses they will just have to operate within their budgets.
In the 2012 season, the Province spent $175-million on aircraft alone in the forest fire fight.
