The Ministry of Natural Resources is considering several options to
stop the spread of the jack pine budworm.
A current infestation problem in this area is expected to grow,
causing significant wood supply losses and reduce the quality of timber.
Spokesperson Jason Pollard says the budworm can also impact our safety
by triggering forest fires.
The MNR is looking at using an aerial spray that would control the pest
and not affect the public’s health.
