Work on a massive prescribed burn in the Dryden and Sioux Lookout area is halfway complete.
The Basket Lake Ragged Wood Prescribed Burn started on September 29th and ignition of the final two areas occurred Friday.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says so far 1,811 hectares of the 3,296 hectare project has been ignited around four target areas.
Officials say the goal is to remove slash piles, create more planting sites for trees and reduce the forest fire hazard.
The MNR warns smoke may drift into the Dryden and Sioux Lookout area but concentrations will be low.
No problems are anticipated with the burn.
