There was only one new fire reported this past week, about 22-kilometres northeast of Fort Frances in the Nickel Lake area.
It was quickly extinguished after the fire was reported by a member of the public.
There are two active fires in the Sioux Lookout and Kenora districts and both pose no problems.
A prescribed burn in the Sioux Lookout/Dryden area is being monitored.
Meantime, the Ministry of Natural Resources is asking hunters to use caution over the next couple of weeks.
Those of us who were lucky in getting a tag are out in the bush right now, but so are MNR personnel.
You should be on the lookout for firefighters on the back roads and forested areas.
If you are starting a campfire, it must be tended at all times and put out before leaving.
