MNR Watching Forest Fire Hazard; Blaze In Oxdrift

Things are picking up for Ministry of Natural Resources.
Information Officer Heather Pridham says 44 wildfires have now burned in the northwest, with 48.3-hectares burned.
The provincial stat is 90-fires burning a total of over 170-hectares of land.
Pridham says most of the fires have been human caused.
She notes the recent strong winds are allowing the fires to grow faster than normal.
Pridham is urging people not to burn in windy conditions, especially before the long weekend.
Meantime, Oxdrift fire crews were called to a large grass fire last night on Highway 601.
The blaze was extinguished and no property is reported damaged.
