MOH Says Time to Help Pikangikum

The Region’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has issed a stern warning
to both levels of Government, provide immediate support for Pikangikum.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield says the Governments are showing neglect after a
report was released in September stating the reserve is facing a waterborne
health disaster.
Sarsfield says Pikangikum has an adequate water treatment plant which
is only hooked up to 5% of the homes.
He warns of water related illness, skin disease, ear infections and
lice.
Sarsfield stresses the slow response would never be accepted elsewhere
and he doesn’t understand why its taking the Governments so long to review
his 18-page report.
