Here are today’s local ‘Good News’ highlights!!

In Hudson, keep an eye out for telecommunications upgrades—work is progressing on the Hudson Tower to improve fiber and broadband access for the area.

In Wabigoon Lake First Nation, work is underway on the Water Treatment System Expansion, a vital project for the community’s long-term health and growth.

Red Lake has a big reason to celebrate as West Red Lake Gold officially declared commercial production at the Madsen Gold Mine earlier this year. This is a huge boost for the local economy and job market, with production expected to ramp up further by mid-summer.

In Ignace – Exploration activity remains high in the area, specifically around the Josephine Cone Mine and Bending Lake Iron Project, which could signal future economic opportunities for the town.

The Dryden Regional Health Centre is currently moving into the final phases of its 2023–2026 Strategic Plan. The focus this year is on “Adaptive Core Services” and “Progressive Care,” meaning better digital integration and shorter wait times for local residents. Additionally, the recent provincial budget confirmed a 4% increase in base funding for hospitals like Dryden’s to help stabilize rural healthcare.
