Dryden is getting in the Curling spirit!
For the first time in 12 years, the City will be represented at the 45th annual Canadian Firefighters National Championship next month in Quebec.
The tournament is the third largest curling event in the nation, and second oldest next to the Men’s Brier.
City Council has decided to back the group with a $1,000 donation, given their time and dedication to volunteer firefighting in Dryden.
A sum of $2,500 was mentioned however Council was concerned about going too far outside current policies.
Some also believe that Council needs a clearer policy on donations.
The money will be used to cover such expenses as meals, hotel rooms and jackets.
