The Northwestern Health Unit is promoting the use of existing
Government funds for area residents who have special dietary needs.
Nutritionist Jennifer Maki says anyone who receives Ontario Works or
Disability support is eligible for funding.
Maki says the public can apply for the money by having their doctor,
registered nurse or midwife write a letter describing their special needs.
Last year the cost of feeding a family of 4 in the Region was over $600 a month, which is about half the amount an O-W recipient receives.
