New Fund is Not Fair

Community leaders in Northwestern Ontario have made it clear that they
don’t think the new Municipal Partnership Fund is fair.
At the NOMA meeting last week, several Provincial Cabinet Ministers
heard that the transfer payments to Municipalities fall far short of what
is needed.
Northern Development and Mines Minister Rick Bartolucci says he will
take the concerns back to Queen’s Park.
Bartolucci says he will try to set up a meeting between the NOMA
Executive and the Minister of Finance.
He says the fund was designed to be fair and notes if there are
problems, the Province will review the program.
