The Northwestern Health Unit has a new ally in its campaign to eliminate second hand smoke from public spaces and workplaces.
The Ontario Medical Association has released a new report showing that second habd smoke is responsible for as many as 2,600 deaths in Ontario.
OMA President Dr. Eliot Halparin says they are asking the province to impose an immediate ban on smoking in work and public places.
Halparin says the recent survey shows that 73% of Ontario residents favour a ban on smoking in workplaces, compared to 34% just a few years ago.
