More Blood Donations Are Needed In Canada

Canadian Blood Services says the country is facing a concerning shortage of blood donations.
Mike Choi is the local representative, and says even though there aren’t any donor clinics in Dryden anytime soon, there are other ways you can help.
He says folks can contact friends or family in Fort Frances, Kenora or Winnipeg and ask them to donate on their behalf. Donor clinics are being held in Fort Frances on August 19th and 20th, and in Kenora on September 9th and 10th.
Choi says they need to fill 5,500 appointments in this area by the Labour day long weekend.
Choi says more than 50,000 donations are needed across the country to keep blood inventories at an “acceptable level”.
The next donor clinic in Dryden is scheduled for January 2014.
