Interim Tory leader Jim Wilson is once again raising concerns about the future of the mining sector in northwestern Ontario.
Wilson says Ontario mining companies are faced with some of the highest energy costs in north America, as well as the highest worker safety premiums in Canada.
He adds they are also facing a massive infrastructure deficit and tax instability.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says the province has extended the Northern Industrial Electricity Rate to 2016 and has no plans to cancel it after that date.
Gravelle stresses the industry faces challenges but they will work with companies to overcome those barriers.
