More Drilling Expected In Ignace Area This Year

A couple of more bore holes are expected to be drilled in the Ignace area later this year by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization.

It’s all part of their on-going site selection process to find an underground nuclear waste storage facility.

Spokesperson Pat Dolcetti admits they’ve been able to do a bit more work in the Ignace area, than the other four sites under consideration.

Dolcetti says that’s because they were one of the first in the process, noting they jumped into things in 2009.

Dolcetti says everything is looking positive right now and more bore holes will be drilled if all of the players involved our interested.

He adds they plan to do some drilling in the Hornpayne and Manitouadge areas, but there isn’t a firm timeline for that work yet.
