More Money For Local Infrastructure Upgrades

Area municipalities are getting more money to complete key infrastructure projects.

The provincial government has modified the traditional gas tax program and is now earmarking federal dollars it receives to the new Canada Community-Building Fund.

The move comes with top-up funding.

The City of Dryden will receive $964,034 this year.

Sioux Lookout is in line to receive $655,876, while Red Lake will get $510,941.

Communities can use the funds immediately for priority upgrades, bank them for later use, pool the dollars with other communities for shared infrastructure projects, or use them to finance major infrastructure expenditures.

Other local allocations:

Ignace-$149,000
Ear Falls-$123,785
Machin-$120,799
