The cost to retrofit the solar water heating system at the Dryden Recreation Complex has come in over budget.
The project will see the installation of new solar panels, pipes and insulation.
Staff say they underestimated the time and expenses needed to complete the work.
Council is now being asked to cover just over $44,000 worth of costs in order to hire a contractor to carry out the installation.
The original budget was $30,000.
Most on Council are on board with the request as officials anticipate that they will get their money back in two years because of energy savings at the Complex.
If Facilities Manager Dan McArthur get’s the OK at next Monday’s Council meeting, the 3-week project is expected to start the first week of October.
