Some rain over the past two days has helped ease the forest fire hazard.
The number of active fires in the northwest has dropped from 62 to 56 in a period of 24-hours.
There are now seven blazes considered out of control, down from 11.
However, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says a lot more rain is needed before they can look at lifting the Restricted Fire Zone.
The hazard has dropped to low right across the region.
