MP Stresses Final Agreement Not In Place Right Now

The MP for Kenora admits he was surprised by a provincial announcement to keep the Experimental Lakes Area open.
Greg Rickford says he’s pleased the Liberals have agreed to come to the table to arrange a transfer.
However, he stresses that it’s not over yet and a formal agreement still needs to be signed.
Speaking on the Federal Government’s role in the decision, Rickford says they will assist in developing a business plan, connect with other industries such as universities, organizations and the International Institute for Sustainable Development and become involved in remediation plans so that the facility is in a suitable condition for the new operator.
Rickford says he’s confident that further discussions will run smoothly.
He adds once a final deal is reached it will be great news for the Kenora Riding and for the future of the research facility.
