MPAC Doesn’t Plan To Appeal Mill Assessment

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation says it has no plans to appeal the recent assessment of the Dryden Domtar Mill.
The Assessment Review Board determined the value of the mill to be $14-million, well below expectations.
MPAC President Antoni Wisniowski says in order to pursue an appeal, there must be an error in law made in the decision.
He notes the ARB made the decision after hearing extensive evidence and submissions from both MPAC and Domtar.
He says he understands the impact on the community and will continue to work with Dryden officials to find a solution.
Dryden officials continue to explore their options.
