MPP Brings Attention To Northern Libraries

Public libraries are getting support in the Ontario Legislature.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell is calling on the government to come up with a new funding program to help libraries thrive.
Campbell says libraries are more important now than ever before
She notes many libraries in the North are now the only home for government information as the province cuts funding to services such as travel centers and Service Ontario offices.
Provincial funding for libraries has been frozen following cuts to the provincial grant system in 1997.
Campbell says several area municipalities are facing budget cuts and notes that some libraries are facing closure.
