MPP Calling On Change In Rent For Ignace Clinic

The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River is standing up for the Mary Berglund Community Health Centre in Ignace.
Sarah Campbell is calling on the government to take immediate action to lower the rent, which is more then $200,000 a year compared with $60,000 that other Centre’s pay.
Campbell adds that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Health have been slow to take action to ensure that services and staffing levels aren’t cut.
In 2010, the Ontario Realty Corporation made the decision to more then double the facilities rent.
Campbell says the Northwest Local Health Integration Network provided some short term funding, but that’s set to run out in 2015.
Campbell is simply asking the government ” Is the Ministry of Infrastructure so short on cash that it has to pillage other departments to pay its bills?”.
She is recommending that the problem be fixed by lowering the rent or selling the building to the Centre at a reasonable amount.
