The Ministry of Transportation plans to start up its road de-icing program in northwestern Ontario starting next week.
The MTO has been experimenting with the de-icing liquid instead of using salt on Highway 17 between Dryden and the Manitoba border.
Max Perchanok is a spokesperson with the M.T.O. and says results so far have been pretty good.

Perchanok says they plan to expand the de-icing trials into the Thunder Bay area this year, but only before winter storms hit.
