The Northwestern Health Unit is seeking a whopping 30% increase in funding from local municipalities this year.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield says they need an extra $1.3 million to provide mandatory services for Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances.
He adds that the province would pick up at least 50% of any increase.
He says the extra money is in line with what other Health Units in Northern Ontario have received.
The board has put off a decision about the levy increase until the end of the month.
