Municipalities across the Rainy River District want a say in the proposed amalgamation of the Rainycrest Long Term Care Home with Riverside Health Care Facilities.
After considerable debate at the annual municipal association meeting on Saturday, municipal leaders have decided to support talks between the two facilities but still have many questions over funding and representation.
For example, Rainycrest is grappling with a 150-thousand dollar deficit and some municipalities want to know if they will have to carry that burden.
Meantime, MPP Howard Hampton noted he is meeting with health ministry officials this week in hopes of securing transitional funding for the amalgamation.
