NAN Chiefs Discussing Child And Family Services

Nishnawbe Aski Nation chiefs are meeting this week to discuss child and family service issues.
Deputy Grand Chief Goyce Kakegamic says one of the issues they’d like to see addressed by the province is child and family service agency jurisdictions.
He notes over 250-children are being moved from their own community to another jurisdiction.
Kakegamic compares that to a Residential School system.
Kakegamic adds they would like to see services like after-care counselling provided in all parts of NAN and not just in the urban centres.
