It was the quietest forest fire season in over 50-years in northwestern Ontario.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says there were only 130-reported fires, with 1,220 hectares burned.
The province reflected that pattern with 303 fires and 5,386 hectares burned.
Ministry of Natural Resources Information Officer Jonathan Scott says fire fighters were busy on other fronts.
Scott says they provided personnel and equipment to B.C., Alberta, Parks Canada and the Northwest Territories.
The MNR is expecting to recover about $8-million from their out of province deployments this year.
By September when the deployments ended, a total of 1,345 fire rangers plus support personnel worked a combined total of 22,309 days.
Scott says they did conduct 6 successful prescribed burns encompassing nearly 2,000 hectares.
He adds they were also busy with training and flood relief in the Fort Frances district.
