NAN Out With Fire Prevention Campaign

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation is asking the Federal government to implement a new campaign to prevent fires on First Nations communities.

NAN has unveiled its ‘Amber’s Fire Safety Campaign’.

The initiative is named after Amber Strang, the youngest victim of a fire in Pikangikum First Nation that killed nine people.

Officials say fires are over twice as common on First Nations communities compared with the rest of the country.
