NAN Pleased With Jury Report

The Nishnawbe-Aski Nation is pleased with the report on First Nation representation on provincial juries.
The report was released yesterday and includes 17 key recommendations.
NAN Deputy Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler says it’s important that the Provincial Government actually implements the report’s ideas.
Key recommendations include allowing on-reserve residents to volunteer for jury duty for Coroner’s Inquests, providing cultural training for government officials working in the justice system who have contact with First Nations people and creating an Assistant Deputy Attorney General responsible for aboriginal issues.
