Native Protest

Motorists and logging trucks may be prevented from accessing some areas south of Pickle Lake Wednesday.
Representatives of the native bands Mishkeegogamang and Saugeen First Nations plan to blockade various access roads.
Band leaders say the protest is aimed at protecting their traditional territories, trap lines and way of life.
Organizers are citing the St. Raphael Signature Site southwest of Pickle Lake, a proposed logging operation and clear-cut site.
They add it infringes upon traditional lands, trap lines and sacred native burial grounds.
