Ontario’s Natural Resources Minister says the new pellet plants in northwestern Ontario are very encouraging for the province’s forest and energy sectors.
Bill Mauro says the plants in Atikokan and Wawa were in part spurred by Ontario’s decision to rid itself of coal power generating stations.
Mauro says they’ve created a new industry in the province and notes the pellet plants are clean and involve First Nations participation.
Rentech’s plant is supplying Ontario Power Generation’s plant in Atikokan.
