Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be making a stop in northwestern Ontario Friday.
Trudeau is in Kenora for a brief visit, before heading to Winnipeg for the start of the Canada Summer Games.
Kenora MP Bob Nault says he plans to discuss a number of topics with the Prime Minister including the twinning of Highway 17, the establishment of an All-Nations Hospital in Kenora, work that needs to be done in the north as well as the Softwood Lumber dispute.
Nault notes it’s also a chance to showcase the tourism opportunities of this region.
Meantime, Kenora Mayor and former President of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is hoping to discuss a handful of regional issues when Justin Trudeau visits.
Dave Canfield says it’s a great opportunity to showcase the area, but notes it’s also a change to talk business.
Canfield says he plans to bring up federal funding, noting a one-size-fits all formula doesn’t work for this region.
Very excited to welcome PM @JustinTrudeau to #Kenora riding this Friday! All are welcome at our community BBQ event. https://t.co/ojkrAKHwJc pic.twitter.com/w4zXwkzwKc
