Nault To Tighten Native Water Guidelines

Indian Affairs Minister Bob Nault says his department is set to announce new mandatory training and funding to deal with unqualified staff and aging water plants in native communities.
Nault says it is important for health reasons that all water plant operators be certified.
He wants the move effective within three years.
This would be the first time Indian Affairs has made such standards mandatory.
The Kenora-Rainy River MP admits the government has never funded the training effectively.
He says only about 10 per cent of native water plant managers are certified.
