NDP Bill Shot Down

The NDP is fuming after the Premier said the Government will not
support a bill calling for a Buy-Ontario program for all public transit
projects.
Leader Howard Hampton told the legislature he simply wants Ontario to
do what other countries are doing to protect local jobs.
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP says 100% of the subway and commuter
cars for French cities are manufactured in France.
McGuinty says he wants to “squeeze” more Ontario jobs out of
provincial infrastructure spending.
But he says he worries the N-D-P’s buy-Ontario bill could hurt the
province’s economy in the long run.
