NDP Candidate Questions Party Strategy

An “Orange Crash” in the federal election has the NDP candidate in Kenora speaking out.

Howard Hampton was involved in a back-and-forth battle with eventual winner Bob Nault in the national vote Monday.

Hampton says he has no regrets, stating he wouldn’t change a thing about his campaign.

He notes he did everything he could to win the election.

However, the former Ontario NDP leader didn’t mince words when expressing his disappointment on the national level, admitting more could have been done.

He believes the NDP campaign lacked energy and focus.

Hampton says the national campaign didn’t help his efforts to secure a seat in Parliament.

He says the NDP was sitting pretty early in the election and questions why party strategists decided to take a defensive approach when poll numbers started to slip.

Hampton says there was a strategic error in the national campaign.
