Ontario’s NDP Education critic is asking the Wynne government to bring colleges and faculty back to the bargaining table to end an on-going labour dispute.
Peggy Sattler says the Liberals continue to abandon the education system.
Sattler says the provincial education system is at risk because of underfunding, increased tuition fees and ballooning class sizes.
She adds there has been an explosion in the use of temporary, contract and part-time faculty.
Sattler notes those instructors have no job security and no benefits, who must reapply for their jobs ever four years.
She says it’s not fair to the teachers or students.
Sattler stresses many students are paying both tuition and rent, and are concerned about the financial burden if the semester is lost.
