NDP Leader Tom Mulcair Stops In Kenora

For the first time this election a federal party leader has toured the Kenora riding.

The NDP’s Thomas Mulcair was in Kenora Wednesday.

Mulcair talked about his parties Northern Plan.

He says his party will spend $1-billion on the Ring of Fire as well as make FedNor a full, stand-alone economic development agency.

Mulcair adds the NDP will invest $105-million over three years to help maintain or retool forest product manufacturing facilities.

He also took aim at the Conservative government, noting under their guidance, the north has lost 13,000 jobs.

Mulcair is accusing them of walking away from the mining industry and economic development.

He ended his media conference by promoting his parties plan to improve First Nations relationships.

That includes $4.8-billion to indigenous education over eight years.

He also predicted that NDP candidate Howard Hampton will become the next MP for Kenora.
