A northwestern Ontario MP is calling for a return of Canada’s age of retirement to 65.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River’s John Rafferty has put a motion forward at the House of Commons.
Rafferty says making it 67 to protect federal retirement benefits makes no sense.
He doesn’t buy the federal government reasons to increase the age, noting CPP has enough funds to last until 2075.
Rafferty says the motion is one of several he plans to introduce in the coming weeks to help outline his party’s strategy in dealing with Canada’s seniors.
