NDP Targeting Health Care System

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath is taking aim at both the governing Liberals and the PC party.

Horwath says urgent action is needed to fix the province’s badly damaged health care system.

Horwath says after 15-years, the province has the fewest number of hospital beds per capita in the country.

She claims that since 2015, the Premier has fired 1,600 nurses.

Horwath adds as bad as it is, Doug Ford says he would cut 4% from everything, impacting 32,000 nurses over four years.

She also warns that a PC government will privatize the entire health care system.

Horwath says if elected Premier, she would increase hospital funding by 5.3% every year to keep pace with growing costs and fund 2,000 new hospital beds.

She notes an NDP government will end “hallway medicine”.
