Needle Exchange Program

The Dryden Area Exchange Committee is trying to raise awareness of its Needle Exchange program.
The initiative was established 2 years ago and is seen as a harm-reduction approach to injection drug use and a way to get needles off the street.
Public Health Nurse Ruth McAulay says needle use and cases of Hepatitis are high in Dryden and they have 3 Centres to help clients.
Last year, Dryden took in more than 2,100 needles from 35 people or 75% of all activity in Northwestern Ontario.
